Are you an unpaid carer? If so, this wellbeing session could be for you. Taking place next month to mark Spring, on Thursday 20th March, 10.30am to 12.30pm at Farncombe community garden. Book your tickets here.

Roots for the Future is offering unpaid carers a “green prescription” of eco-therapy sessions. Some sessions will be practicing mindfulness in the community garden, others will be woodland sessions of forest bathing – slow, mindful walking, opening all your senses to nature, scientifically proven to improve health.

These wellbeing sessions help people use nature to promote the relaxation response which repairs and restores our bodies and minds. We will be laying the foundations for regularly using nature for wellness, so you can maintain your own health while you continue to care for your loved one.

An unpaid carer is someone who provides care for a friend or family member who needs help, but is not paid to do so by a company or local authority. To be clear, even if you get benefits or a carers allowance for caring for a loved one, you are still considered an unpaid carer.

Roots for the Future has funding from Surrey County Council to which subsidises 80% of the costs so that unpaid carers only need to pay £5.

These sessions are to support you and help you lay the foundations to work towards regularly using nature for your own wellbeing. The aim is to ensure you can maintain healthy bodies and healthy minds so that you are able to continue to care for your loved one.
