Celebrating the spring equinox

Forest bathing in Birtley Woodland in the Surrey Hills, celebrating the spring equinox by immersing yourself in this wonderful private woodland for your wellbeing.

Spring equinox forest bathing Friday 20 Mar 2026 10:15 AM – 1:30 PM, Birtley Woodland, GU5 0LB

Forest bathing is a slow and mindful walk in the woods, opening up all your senses and slowing down your mind. It is an immersive experience, noticing the sights, sounds, smells and textures of the forest. It is a way to destress, relax and boost health and wellbeing.

During this session, featuring the spring equinox, Francesca will guide you on a slow walk through woodland with sensory activities to help you unwind and connect with the natural environment. The focus is on slow, deep, mindful breathing throughout, with a guided meditation at the end. Afterwards there is hot tea to sip and tips to take into your everyday life.

The Spring equinox brings equal day and night pivoting us towards the hopefulness that more sunlight brings. Traditionally at this time, there are celebrations of renewal, fertility, and new beginnings.

Apart from it being a beautiful and deeply relaxing experience, the best part is that forest bathing is scientifically proven to make us feel better. Trees emit a chemical compound that when we breathe in, has many health benefits. Whether you have forest bathed before, or if it is a new experience for you, join us to boost your mental and physical health and connect with nature.

We meet at 10.15am for a 10.30am start, finishing by 1.30pm. There is a carpark with toilet facilities and while it isn’t easy to access via public transport, you can use Surrey Connect on demand bus to get there.

Come celebrate new beginnings with us in the woods!
