We launched Eashing Cemetery Community Garden and Orchard on Saturday 16th July. People braved the incredible heat and came out to help us in 28C weather.

The Mayor of Godalming Shirley Faraday and the Town Mayor’s Consort, David Faraday attended the event and got involved with the butterfly count. With the wildflower meadows at the cemetery, it is an ideal place to spot butterflies.

Other Councillors joined us including Clare Wightman and Paul Follows.

We submitted our Big Butterfly Count records to the National database. Thanks to the 8 surveyor/groups that came along to take part! The record can be viewed via this link.

It was a lovely way to launch the new community garden and we are looking forward to the upcoming events which you can see on our Facebook page.
