Funded sessions for carers

We have funding from Surrey County Council to provide unpaid carers with a “green prescription” of eco-therapy sessions. Some of these sessions have been practicing mindfulness in nature in a local community garden. We are now holding these in woodlands for forest bathing, a slow, mindful walk, opening up all the senses to the woodland, scientifically proven to improve health.

The next session is forest bathing on Thursday 21 August, 10.15am to 1.30pm at Munstead Wood. Book your tickets here.

We want to work with people who may be caring for a loved one. Some carers have feelings of overwhelm, stress, anxiety, and other health conditions that have arisen since taking on their care role. These sessions are to support you and help you lay the foundations to practice regularly using nature for your own wellbeing. The aim is to ensure you can maintain healthy bodies and healthy minds so that you are able to continue to care for your loved one.

An unpaid carer is someone who provides care for a friend or family member who needs help, but is not paid to do so by a company or local authority. To be clear, even if you receive benefits or a carers allowance for caring for a loved one, you are still considered an unpaid carer.

Roots for the Future has funding from Surrey County Council which pays for 80% of the cost of the session. This allows us to charge only £5 for the tickets, plus a small booking fee. We have funding for this session, and two more which will take place late summer and autumn of 2025.

Following the session in August, the following forest bathing for unpaid carers dates are Thursday 18 September and Thursday 23 October in and near Godalming. Keep an eye out here, and on our ticket tailor page for more details and booking.
