As well as tree planting and community gardening Roots for the Future now offers ecotherapies. Join us for a Forest Bathing session during peak bluebell season.

This spring forest bathing session will be held in Birtley Woodland GU5 0LB for the afternoon of Saturday 20 April, 1.30 – 4.30pm.

Forest bathing is a slow and mindful walk in the woods, opening up all your senses and slowing down your mind. It is an immersive experience, noticing the sights, sounds, smell and textures of the forest. It is a way to destress, relax and boost health and wellbeing.

Book the tickets on Eventbrite. They are £35 for the three-hour session with a guided meditation towards the end, and hot tea afterwards. Email to find out alternative ways to book without the booking fee.

During this session, featuring the bluebells, Francesca will guide you on a slow walk through woodland with sensory activities to help you unwind and connect with the natural environment. The focus is on slow, deep, mindful breathing throughout, with a guided meditation at the end. Afterwards there is hot tea to sip and tips to take into your everyday life.

Apart from it being a beautiful and relaxing experience, the best part is that forest bathing is scientifically proven to make us feel better. Trees emit a chemical compound that when we breathe in, has many health benefits. Whether you have forest bathed before, or if it is a new experience for you, join us to boost your mental and physical health and connect with nature.
