Are you an unpaid carer? If so, these wellbeing sessions could be for you.
An unpaid carer is someone who provides care for a friend or family member who needs help, but is not paid to do so by a company or local authority.
Roots for the Future has funding from Surrey County Council to provide unpaid carers with a “green prescription” of eco-therapy sessions. Some of these sessions will be practicing mindfulness in nature in a local green space. Some will be woodland sessions of forest bathing, a slow, mindful walk, opening up all your senses to the woodland, scientifically proven to improve health. You can read more about forest bathing in this blog.

These wellbeing sessions help people to use nature to promote the relaxation response which repairs and restores our bodies and minds. We want to work with people who may be caring for a loved one. Some carers have feelings of overwhelm, stress, anxiety, and other health conditions that have arisen since taking on their care role.
These sessions are to support you and help you lay the foundations to work towards regularly using nature for your own wellbeing. The aim is to ensure you can maintain healthy bodies and healthy minds so that you are able to continue to care for your loved one.
The next session is forest bathing on Thursday 17 July, 10.15am to 1.30pm at Hamptons Estate. To secure your place book your tickets here.
We will take a slow walk through this woodland, with scientific and conservation interest, using sensory activities to help you unwind and connect with the natural environment. All designed to boost your mental and physical health.
Francesca who will be running the sessions is a trained mindfulness and meditation teacher, a trained forest bathing guide and a mental health first aider.
