“The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” Nelson Henderson.

We are bringing together people to plant trees in two more local communities in and around Godalming next month.

We are holding a community tree planting event in Farncombe on Saturday 17th February, 1:30 – 3:30pm at Canon Bowrings Recreation Ground. More commonly known as “chippy park” the large green space will make a lovely new home to oak saplings who have ambitions to be large oak trees. There are two ancient oaks at the entrance to the park which obviously won’t last forever. The little oaks we plant will provide continuity for future generations.

Farncombe residents of all ages are welcome. Come join your neighbours for mingling, forest school games for children, tree sapling planting and refreshments. And perhaps get a selfie with the town Mayor too!

The other event is on the green on Amberley Rd in Milford. According to the father of one of our board members, this green used to have several trees on it. Now is a grassy traffic circle at the end of a close which Waverley Borough council is keen to add trees to. Residents of the surrounding area are welcome to join us to plant some medium sized semi-established oak trees on Saturday 10th February 1:30 – 3:30pm. There will be time for mingling, forest school games for children, tree sapling planting and refreshments.
